Past Pictures

I have this weird compulsion to upload pictures, so I could finally delete them off my flashdrive folder "Pictures to Upload." Oddly every picture I can delete gives me a tiny twinge of pleasure and a sense of accomplishment: the smallest things in Turkmenistan make me happy.
1. In my training site: our first group of kids during our day camp.
2. Me and another volunteer hand-making bread crumbs for our American eggplant parmesan, our first foray into attempting American fare in Turkmenistan.
3. At my tutor's 40th birthday (birthdays are a big deal in this country). In this picture, there are his four daughters, his left on the far left, his son on his lap, his wife on the right side of the picture, and then my host brother on the far right.
4. I guested at my aunt's house in another village and stayed the night. She is the most fantastic cook ever. She baked this cake that rivals all the cakes I had in the states. It had cacao in it, and every bite would melt in my mouth. Did I mention she is awesome?
5. My host mom and dad sharing an affectionate moment during New Year's (although my dad was definitely tipsy at the moment).
